The Policy of Screening for Plagiarism

We accept all terms and conditions of COPE regarding plagiarism in a submitted manuscript, and in case any attempt of plagiarism is brought to our attention accompanied by convincing evidence, we act based on the flowcharts and workflows determined in COPE.

   All manuscripts must be free of any form of plagiarism. Manuscripts submitted to the journal of Governance in the Qur̓an and Sunnah will be screened for plagiarism using similarity checks and plagiarism detection tools. All authors are advised to use plagiarism detection software to check the similarity before submitting their manuscript to the journal. Editors check the plagiarism detection of manuscripts in the journal of Governance in the Qur̓an and Sunnah using the Grammarly detection software (www.grammarly.com), and iThenticate (www.ithenticate.com) for English abstracts and use Iranian plagiarism detection software such as IranDOC (https://tik.irandoc.ac.ir) and Samimonour (www.samimnoor.ir) for the Persian text. The journal will immediately reject papers leading to plagiarism or self-plagiarism. Whenever it is determined that the manuscript has not complied with the plagiarism rules, it will be REJECTED (before acceptance for publication), and if it was published, it will be RETRACTED for plagiarism issues.

Retraction Policy

An article may be retracted when its findings are no longer considered trustworthy due to scientific misconduct or error, it plagiarizes previously published work, or it is found to violate ethical guidelines. An article may be retracted when the integrity of the published work is substantially undermined owing to errors in the conduct, analysis, and/or reporting of the research. Violation of publication or research ethics may also result in a study’s retraction. The original paper will be marked as RETRACTED, but a PDF version remains available to readers, and the RETRACTION statement is bi-directionally linked to the original published paper. Retraction statements will typically include a statement of assent or dissent from the authors.

Complaint Process

The authors have the right to complain and ask explanation if they perceive any misconduct in any applicable policies and ethical guidelines. The authors can raise their complaints by submitting a letter to: jgq@isca.ac.ir. We follow the COPE guidelines on responding to whistleblowers, which include protecting anonymity. All the complaints regarding delinquencies in the work processes are investigated according to the prevailing publication ethics practices. An author or any other scholar may submit their complaints about any issues related to:

          - Plagiarism;

          - Copyright violation;

          - Deceiving in research results or wrong research results;

          - Violations of the research ethics and integrity;

          - Unrevealed conflicts of interest;

          - Bias in the review process;

          - Manuscript processing time is unusually late;

          - The peer-review comments are unsatisfactory; and

            - Authorship issues.

Policy for Dealing with

Once a complaint is received, at first, an acknowledgment is sent to the complainant with the assurance that appropriate action will be taken on the complaint within three working days, excluding the date the complaint was received. The investigation process is initiated by the journal handling team according to the directions of the Editor-In-Chief. After the investigation is over, a meeting is held with a complete report on the complaint. The decision has been made, and the same is forwarded to the concerned scholar through his/her submitted email ID. We consider complaints as an opportunity to enhance our existing Manuscript Processing System. All the received complaints are dealt with in a polite and timely manner with certainty.

Declaration of generative AI in scientific writing

 Where authors use generative artificial intelligence (AI) and AI-assisted technologies in the writing process, they should only employ these technologies to improve readability and language. The application of AI technology must be accompanied by human oversight and control. Authors should carefully review and edit the results because AI can generate authoritative-sounding output that can be incorrect, incomplete, or biased. AI and AI-assisted technologies should not be listed as authors or co-authors, nor should they be cited as an author.  Authorship implies tasks and responsibilities that are uniquely attributed to and performed by humans. Authors should disclose their use of AI and AI-assisted technologies in the writing process by following the instructions provided. A statement acknowledging this use will appear in the published article. It is essential to recognize that authors remain ultimately responsible and accountable for the content of their articles.
Disclosure instructions:

  Authors should disclose in their manuscript the use of generative AI and AI-assisted technologies in the writing process by adding a statement at the end of their manuscript in the core manuscript file, before the References list. The statement should be placed in a new section entitled ‘Declaration of Generative AI and AI-assisted technologies in the writing process’.
Statement: During the preparation of this work, the author(s) used [NAME TOOL / SERVICE] in order to [REASON]. After using this tool/service, the author(s) reviewed and edited the content as needed and take(s) full responsibility for the content of the publication.
   This declaration does not apply to the use of basic tools for checking grammar, spelling, references, etc. If there is nothing to disclose, there is no need to add a statement.

2. Open Access Policy

The journal of Governance in the Qur̓an and Sunnah provides immediate open access to its content. Our publisher, the Islamic Sciences and Culture Academy, abides by the Budapest Open Access Initiative definition of Open Access:

“By “open access” to [peer-reviewed research literature], we mean its free availability on the public Internet, permitting any users to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of these articles, crawl them for indexing, pass them as data to software, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without financial, legal, or technical barriers other than those inseparable from gaining access to the internet itself. The only constraint on reproduction and distribution, and the only role for copyright in this domain, should be to give authors control over the integrity of their work and the right to be properly acknowledged and cited.”

   Researchers engage in discovery for the public good, yet because of cost barriers or use restrictions imposed by other publishers, research results are not available to the full community of potential users. It is our mission to support a greater global exchange of knowledge by making the research published in this journal open to the public and reusable under the terms of the  Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) license. Furthermore, we encourage authors to post their pre-publication manuscripts in institutional repositories or on their websites before and during the submission process and to post the Publisher’s final formatted PDF version after publication. These practices benefit authors with productive exchanges as well as earlier and greater citations of published work. This journal is a fully open-access journal, which means that all articles are available on the Internet to all users immediately upon publication. The Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) allows users to:

 Share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format;

Adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material.

The licensor cannot revoke these freedoms as long as you follow the license terms. Under the following terms:

Attribution — You must give appropriate credit, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made. You may do so in any reasonable manner, but not in any way that suggests the licensor endorses you or your use.
